British Deaf News
Founded in 1955, British Deaf News is one of the most widely read publications in the Deaf community across the UK. This national monthly full-colour magazine is for readers – Deaf or hearing – who like to keep their fingers on the pulse of the British Deaf community.
A refreshed British Deaf News has been recently re-launched and contains all the latest news and information about what is happening within the Deaf and Sign Language communities.
British Deaf News provides information on all the up-and-coming events taking place in the local Deaf community, BDA organised events, social and educational opportunities where Deaf people can meet to socialise and interact with one another using their native communicative language – British Sign Language (BSL).
Each month features 44 packed pages of exciting articles, topical items, interviews, a dedicated section on Area Deaf Associations, a BSL research column, news from the UK and around the world, competitions and more.
Regular contributors write a column each month focusing on topical issues: Adrian Bailey and Marie Dimond, CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) Shane Gilchrist – Wandering through the Deaf World and BazzaDeaf, who provides a light-hearted look at life. Add to this a Sports Editor, Brian Kokoruwe (Director of Deaf UK Athletics), who brings the very latest each month from the Deaf sporting world. We also welcome articles from both Deaf and hearing people for submission on issues that are relevant to the Deaf community.
