SalonFocus Press Release

SalonFocus, the bi-monthly magazine of the National Hairdressers’ Federation has won a prestigious national award, being voted Publication of the Year in this year’s Trade Association Forum (TAF) Best Practice Awards.

The awards are designed to celebrate the work of trade associations around the UK and SalonFocus beat off stiff competition from organisations such as the British Beer & Pub Association and the Recruitment & Employment Confederation to win in its category.

The plaudit was not only a significant achievement for the SalonFocus editorial and advertising team but, more widely, highlighted the growing importance of hairdressing, and the Federation, as a “voice” of the high street, said NHF secretary-general Eileen Lawson.

“Amid headlines about the high street being in crisis, hairdressing and hairdressing salons are continuing to perform robustly and in many towns are even acting as a ‘hub’ or anchor keeping local high streets alive and vibrant.

“NHF members have long valued SalonFocus for its authoritative, informative style and this award is a vindication of the NHF’s commitment to quality journalism.

“The campaigns SalonFocus has run, and continues to run, around issues such as chemical hair straighteners and how VAT is levied on small businesses have given the NHF an increasingly prominent national profile. Its willingness to publicise business scams that have targeted the sector have also saved members potentially hundreds of thousands of pounds over the years.

“The NHF is already the biggest voice in hairdressing and this award will give the Federation an even more powerful national platform to promote innovation and excellence on the high street.”
